English translation: setting and driving the agenda of the history

English term or phrase: if we wouldn’t be doing **this** (grammar - what does this refer to?)
meeting of a large American IT company

Sam, in his Webcast a couple of weeks ago, told you that he is convinced that XXX is once again in its history, almost 100 years old, once again in its history, setting and driving the agenda of the history.
And I think that is a wonderful statement.
We are back in setting and driving the agenda of the industry. Now this is not only a statement from Sam, which goes maybe for the Americas, or for the US. *This is also a statement for Europe, because if we wouldn’t be doing ***this****, why would this happen to our competitors?*

what does 'this' refer to? what is that they wouldn't be doing?

thanks!

agree  Tony M: I agree with Ian's interpretation --- thought the (non-native?) English is so odd, there is room for some doubt; but certainly, that is the only think that makes logical sense to m!
