"Would you like to continue?", then press "Continue" (i.e. OK). (Very hard to understand) Explanation: Very difficult to understand, but below is my guess. My guess is that if you get a message saying something like "Would you like to continue?", then press "Continue" (i.e. OK). But like I wrote above, the phrase is very hard to understand, and the phrase could be simply written as "If you would like to continue, then press "Continue" or "OK", something like that. |

A message saying that you need a certain permission to do something Explanation: It can be any kind of permission to do any kind of thing. For instance, you may need permission to delete files in order to proceed if you want to delete a file, you may need permission to access a certain web area, etc. The permission can be a so called "privilege" that only certain people have, like administrators, or it can be (if mostly unlikely) a non-technical permission, like "permission from your parents to enter this website". |

Vista often generates a You need permission to perform this action message Explanation: This silly message appears when you try to delete a file that is open in an application, for example. As I remember, your options are Try again and Cancel, but it may be that under some circumstances you get a Continue button. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 32 mins (2009-09-16 05:51:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Example of the message: http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-xp-tips/you-need-permission-... |

Windows needs YOUR permission to continue Explanation: As Jack says, it would have been a lot easier if they had put: Click Continue if you get a "Permission needed" message Given the rest of the sentence I do not think it is about a message saying you don't have permission. Instead I think it is a message asking for your permission. Vista asks you for permission to do things all the time, particularly when installing software or running certain utilities. If your wider context is a software installation or a utility software package, the message being referred to is quite probably this one: Windows needs your permission to continue Screenshot: http://www.theworldofoffice.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/v... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 hrs (2009-09-16 14:32:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I based my answer on the fact that it says to click the "Continue" button which is present on this type of dialog, as well as a bit of intuition and guesswork about the context. |
