English term or phrase: navel lint
This is from "Rules that guys wish girls knew ".

Do not ask us what we are thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as navel lint, the shotgun formation and stuff like that.

And how about "shotgun formation"? I guess it refers to a offence formation in American football. Am I right?

I asked this question in English to Japanese term question section, but I got explanation that "navel lint" is a short pieces of threads in a navel.

Why would men typically think about short pieces of thread in your navel? I want a clear explanation.

fluff in the navel
Explanation:
it probably referrs to the fluff that gathers in the navel if you don't wash it every day. Why would men want to talk about that? is beyond me, ask a man
