Tech/Engineering - Geology / Flood Risk Assessment
English term or phrase: replane
I can only find this word in a work by Spanish authors, so am not sure if it really exists since I can't find any solid refs to corroborate it:
"Abstract: We present the morphological analysis of a sector of the River Sil replane. The sector chosen is hanging above the current fluvial network. ..."
"the River Basin, in the "Quilamas" area and zone of influence, has a high relief at the head (Fig. 2), and a transit area of the foothills to the replane of silting which fits the river Yeltes; causes a short time of concentration with high runoff coefficients (from 0.5 to 0.7) in areas of impermeable rocks (Sierra de France), presenting mean values in Neogene and Quaternary surfaces with permeable or semipermeable lithologies promote water loss into the ground gaining importance unconfined aquifers"...

replanos = ledges

"replane" is pretty nonsensical.

I am having trouble understanding other parts of the translation you have:)

Good luck!

Asker: Thanks Liz, it's a revision rather than translation so I'll probably just leave "replane" it as it is, though I think they must have made it up since I can't find any native speaker uses anywhere. I really appreciate your help on this one:)

Asker: Author says: " replano en español efectivamente, pero no es una plataforma, que es algo plano y mas extenso, esto son superficies planas del medio del cauce de un rio o en zonas adyacentes en medio de sectores mas sinuosos." So now we know (am still none the wiser)! Season's greetings :)
