English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology)
English term or phrase: MMC
Parameter: Access
This parameter is used to make a signal write protected. The
parameter can be set to SYSTEM or ALL. Default is ALL, which means write enabled for all. Set to SYSTEM, only the system itself can write to the signal and all others can only read the signal, i.e. write protected from ***MMC***, RAPID, and external computer (RAP).

What does MMC men here? Microsoft Management Console, main memory controller or something elese?

MultiMediaCard

Explanation:
MultiMediaCard

Multi media card is a small size card. It works like a floopy disk, you can write and erase data as many times as you want. MMC\'s usually have much more space than a floopy disk. There are MMCs with capacity like 256 MB, 512 MB and more.

Usually digital camera and digital camcorders use multi media cards to write digital images on it. You can put the card in your computer\'s card reader (if your computer has one) to download data to the computer. You can also write date to the mmc from your computer.

Matched Memory Cycle

Explanation:
See reference below that explains the term in the context.
Your text seems at the hardware level, Microsoft has nothing to do at this leve, and the MultiMedia Card, although conceptually related (this is a memory system after all) can definitely write nothing onto a hardware signal

Explanation:
Besides the fact that are quite a few potentially plausible meanings for this abbreviation, there's a good chance that the meaning is specific to the document where it occurs. Does it appear anywhere else in your document, and if so, can you deduce what it stands from from such occurrences?
If your main interest is translating the term, my suggestions would be (a) ask the client for an explanation and (b) if you're not absolutely sure what it means, leave it unchanged in the translation. As a fellow translator commented on another occasion, it's better to be generally right than specifically wrong.
