agree  jorgeabaide: That's a good answer. However,the IRSca provide equivalent terms: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/International-Taxpayers/Taxpa... terms are : EIN a nd TIN: the 1st one for legal entities and the 2nd one for individuals.
