English translation: not really clear

English term or phrase: and drop forward
in a printing press

"Calibrate the air bleed valve located on the rear of the unwind tension regulator. The valve is used to create a regulated air leak making the dancer system more sensitive to the web.
To calibrate the valve, open the control panel ***and drop forward***. Loosen the locking nut on the valve by turning it counter-clockwise. Turn the metering jet clockwise until
it is snug but not tight. Set the regulator for a 20 psi reading on the gauge. Turn the metering jet counter-clockwise until 16-17 psi is obtained on the gauge or until the gauge needle stops dropping, whichever is the higher reading on the gauge. Turn the jet clockwise until the gauge needle starts to indicate an upward movement, then tighten the locking nut."

...what is it that you have to drop forward?? also what do they mean with "drop forward"? can you help me with synonyms?

thanks!

Selected answer:not really clear
Explanation:
If you have to open the control panel, it presumably has a cover over it, and that may be what has to be "dropped forward" (I think "let drop forward" would be clearer. Or it could even be the control panel itself that has to be let drop forward to reveal the valve. Then again, maybe it is the valve which has to be let drop forward.
None of this is likely to help you much, but the English really does seem quite ambiguous to me.

agree  jccantrell: It is clear to me. The control panel is hinged at the bottom, you open the top and let it swivel down to gain access to the inside. I might have put : Valve Cal. Procedure: 1. Open the cp and drop forward. 2. Loosen... to help with the clarity.
