English term or phrase: which meaning of "strain" is applicable here?
High blood pressure causes STRAIN on the vessels carrying blood around your body. This STRAIN can cause vessels to become clogged up or to weaken.

Strain has numerous meanings and I think that a translator having immense in the field of medical translation or a doctor knows best which meaning is applicable here.

Kindly clarify the same. Thank you.
