English term or phrase:Theoretical line
I need the English term meaning "the theoretical line precisely intersecting the longitudinal axis of the gun tube."
As a purely speculative suggestion, a line that is perpendicular (at an exact right angle) to a reference surface or line is called a 'normal', which is a quasi-generic term. There are an infinite number of normals to a line at any given point, so yours..
I was citing the definition of this unknown word as provided in the in the text. There is a cut-away lateral drawing of the gun tube showing this theoretical line, then another drawing showing the muzzle and indicating the intersection of the longitudinal axis and this theoretical line. The author is not accessible.
