futural

English translation: Of the future/ Relating to the future

English language (monolingual) [Non-PRO]
Philosophy / heidegger, ermeneutica, vattimo, zabala
English term or phrase: futural
While there are a number of other philosophers (such as Jean-Luc Nancy, Giorgio Agamben, and Alain Badiou) who have responded to Heidegger’s request to “work out Being for itself anew” in order to “grasp its last remnant of a possession” through the “new fundamental question of philosophy,” it is Derrida and Vattimo who have given hermeneutics the necessary tools for future generations to take on this task.
This task will prevent philosophy from falling back into metaphysics and will also grant it access to history, that is, allow it to become futural because, as Heidegger once said, the “possibility of access to history is grounded in the possibility according to which any any any any specific present understands how to be futural.

Selected answer:Of the future/ Relating to the future
Explanation:
I believe in this case it means that the history and the future, for example of an event, can only exist together. The event has no future without a history, because it would not have happened. In the same way, in the future an event form the past would be unknown if there is no history of it happening.
