agree  Allison Wright: Hello Jenni, I am interested to confirm whether the ink on these was often purple (as opposed to blue)? We called those "Roneo" copies. Possibly a different trade name for the same thing?

  -> Thanks, Allison. I think they were mainly purple, although I'm certain I remember blue and it's possible that my high school newspaper even occasionally had some other colors (running the sheet through the machine twice to add the second color).

agree  B D Finch: Yes, spirit duplicators were the ones that did colours but a very limited number of copies. Teachers used them for class handouts. Roneo were ink duplicators, which worked using a stencil and so could produce hundreds of copies.
