(Je moet al bijna aan het einde zijn gekomen. )Ik las als kind veel sagen en legenden uit Vlaanderen, (de Lange Wapper!)dus ik weet dat dit de juiste uitdrukking is. Ik denk dat dit gaat over 'misvattingen' met misschien moet je dit ook als zodanig vertalen, daar sagen en legenden een beetje misstaat in een technische handleiding, maar dat hangt uiteraard van de context af.

I would like to stress that which has already be mentioned by others: if we are simply talking about untruths, you cannot translate the phrase to 'mythen en legenden'. You would then have to choose 'onwaarheden' (untruths) or, as I have done in http://www.htmlhelp.com/nl/design/accessibility/myths.html, 'fabels'. 'Mythen en legenden' refer strictly to old stories that may have a core of truth in them, IMHO.
