In order to eliminate undesired influence of spurious pulses on range finding, they use selection of the target pulses by the criterion of maximum amplitude of the pulse in the receiving channel because in most cases maximum energy of the detection signal is reflected from the object at which the range finder is directed and not from natural or artificial barriers.
