Thanks for your kind words. Email notifications come for all the Kudoz questions in my language pair. Of course, I do not answer all the questions, because I choose only the questions I am comfortable with -- just like translation assignments. It is a good thing that more time is spent on research to verify and give a good answer, and this does not imply incompetence of the translation, that is he is not too quick in giving the answer. Sometimes, some questions are answered in 2 mins. This question was an acronym and you narrowed down the possible answers by your explanation. So, research was required to go through different websites in both languages and check which is more suitable.
Finally, it was very kind of you to take the time to reply. Thank you for that, and do not care about the issue .. everything will be nice in the future... Salaams
I'm sorry you feel that way. I do not know if there is a rationale behind the points, and you are, of course, free to adress the support staff. My rationale is simple: since you present yourself as working in the field, I assumed that you know the answer and do not require a half an hour research for a convincing answer:). I am sorry if I was mistaken and that you feel offended. I awarded different number of points to the same translator many times, and no one felt offended before. Unfortunately, I cannot change the number of points now, but be sure that I will take your complaint into account in the future. Regards.
I do not know if there is a link, but I think as long as the answer is acceptable and well-documented, no one disagreed, and you have found it appropriate, then why should not the full points be granted? Actually, some colleagues may interpret this as offensive to them considering the efforts they did on research and trying to find a good suggestion to help the asker, who by a click on a button assigns the point he/she likes. To me, whenever I ask a question and find a suitable answer or closer to be correct I assign the 4 marks in appreciation of the effort of my colleague: 1- he showed interest in my question 2- tried to help 3- did research and shared the result... all of such steps take time. In this case, you see my answer came 30 mins after you posted your question. I came here to answer soon after I got an email notification. So, I spent about 25 doing research to leave a bit convincing answer ... and after all, only 2 poor points are given... that would probably discourage me to help in the future ... maybe other colleagues would have the same attitude. Anyway, there must be a good rationale behind the point issue. A support note may be sent to the site staff for....
I beg your pardon, I wasn't aware of this criteria, no one ever told me that... Are there certain rules regarding the number of points that should be given? If so, may I ask you to give me a link to the relevant page?
