English term or phrase: Flamboyant
Dear all,

How can we best translate the adj."Flamboyant" in:

{it’s rare that you have a surfer that is flamboyant, has discipline and focus all in one person.}

I think "Flamboyant" here has a meaning that contradicts both "Discipline and focus"!

Can it be محب للاستعراض ???

Thanks a lot.

محب للإستعراض sounds negative whilethe context is obviously positive, this term is best to use

You still right thinking that there's a contradiction, and it is inferred through 'rare.' But you need to pay attention to the sequence of the consecutive adjectives that follow. Since they are seperated by a comma with the positive term 'has discipline and focus' being there, I am inclined to believe that 'flamboyant' is positive in this context otherwise they would have been seperated by 'and': 'that is flamboyant and has discipline and focus.' If this was the case I would have agreed with محب للإستعراض!

Notes to answerer
Asker: I really appreciate your effort and thorough explanation. You mean it's rare to find an athlete that has those 3 positive qualities? but every true athlete has those three! I still can't get what he wants to say and the meaning of"flamboyant" is not very clear in any dictionary.
