English to Arabic translations [PRO]
Science - Livestock / Animal Husbandry / Horse breeding
English term or phrase: dished
The context of the term is a description of the Arabian horse face and profile .

The text is

"a distinctive profile that is concave, sometimes referred to as "dished"; "
Your time and help are highly appreciated;but if you please no need for literal translation and /or guessing BECAUSE seems to me that the term "dished" is Arabic culture-specific which has an exact equivalent in Arabic(in the Gulf area)
so grateful to you

واسع الجبهة

The last step of examining the horse's head is to take a step back and examine the profile of the horse head. How is the head shaped? Is it long, short, chiseled, etc? Generally horses with strait faces are "uncomplicated" whereas a horse with a "dished" face is timid and more complex (17).

Asker: Thanks very much Dr. Hamzeh..but actually in the same context I found " with large forehead" so "dished" can not be "واسع الجبهة" Any way I found (by chance ) the translation of "dished" ...It means صحني و هي كلمة تشير إلى تقعر في وجه الفرس يعطيه جميلا فريدا

Asker: Thanks Dr Hamzeh and thanks everybody, your help and time are highly appreciated

Asker: Thanks very very much Dr Hamzeh for the wonderful links you provided. Really I needed them...Grateful to you.

We say dished or CONCAVE also

The meaning is that the profile is well defined and traced beautifully. It's somehow sculpted and shows the lines.
I would say مقعر which is kind of a literal tranbslation... Maybe
I hope this helps you to have a better idea.

Asker: Thanks very much مصطفى But actually I found the translation of "dished" by chance ..It means "صحني" and it refers to the concave nature of the horses profile. Best Regards and thanks for your help..
