English term or phrase: global warming
I am translating a document that has this term in it. Does anyone know what it is in Arabic please.
Mona Helal
Arabic translation:sukhunat jaw al-Ard
Explanation:
The term means "a gradual increase in temperature caused by gases collecting in the air and other gases surrounding the Earth, which prevents heat escaping into space." Check also 'Greenhouse effect' (Dafee-at).

It's fine to use 'iHtiraar', but it's not yet THAT common. 'Aalamiyya has nothing to do with this term (Kawaniyya would be by far better).

Explanation:
In my answer to this inquiry I had a typo: kawaniyya, needless to say, should be kawniyya. Sorry!
