After many years of trying to develop anti-glare screens, glare is coming back. It started in Japan when one bright marketing person from some company was trying to figure out how to make his company notebooks stick out from the myriad of notebooks being displayed at retail stores. He figured out that adding glare would do the trick. So, in Japan, glare-type notebooks are all the rage and make up a sizeable percentage. I have heard about 80% of all notebooks sold in Japan have glare-type displays. LCD monitors are moving toward glare-type as well.
