hold off= uitstellen Explanation: Hoi Sandra, Volgens Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary is to hold sth of: iets uitstellen bijv. would it be better to buy a house now or hold off for a few months? High profile case is een zaak die al veel in de belangstelling staat. Vandaar dat hij de arrestatie niet had willen uitstellen. Omdat de zaak zo high profile was, stond de politie onder grote druk om een resultaat te leveren. Je had de arrestatie moeten uitstellen, beste vriend. Explanation: Waar zou dat toe geleid hebben? Het zaakje stond al in de publieke belangstelling nog vóór wij er ons mee bemoeiden. Lijkt me alvast een mogelijkheid, met de juiste 'tone of voice' |
