English term or phrase:cut step
How would you translate "cut step" in the following sentence:
"In substance, the cut of the block 16 is carried out in such a manner that the width or cut step corresponds with
a predetermined thickness S of the thermoinsulating panel 12 to be obtained."
Here's an extra sentence that has the term. I still haven't figured out what to do with it. It has nothing to do with flight of stairs or anything like that though, it's a text about thermoinsulative panels...
"According to the invention, the final thickness S of the panel 12 is completely unconstrained by
the thickness S’ of the elementary panels 14 and is correlated only with the cut step."
