The expression "a turn of foot" is apparently used a lot in a context of dog and horse racing, but is not that common to the layman. I'm looking for a good equivalent in Dutch that expresses the fact that the dog runs very fast but that is not well-known by ordinary people.

Explanation:
lijkt wel passend als je kijkt naar de verschillende contexten van de engelse term op google. Helaas is het wel een wielrenuitdrukking, ws. niet uit de paarden- en aanverwante sporten.

Explanation:
Misschien kun je een wat ouderwets woord als 'tred' gebruiken. Ook het werkwoord 'ijlebenen' of een constructie met 'ijlings' zou een mogelijkheid zijn. Het zijn geen termen die in de wereld van de honden- en paardenrennen gebruikt worden, vermoed ik, maar het zijn evenmin woorden die je dagelijks hoort.
