English to Dutch translations [PRO]
English term or phrase: some scientific terms
inactivated polio vaccine, lot, batch, contaminant, immortalize, cancer causing agent.
I understand these words but I do not know how to translate them into Dutch. I will explain in English what they mean, could you help me to translate them and tell me where you found the translation?
immortalize= render cancerous (context: SV40 can cause tumors in hamsters and can immortalize human cells in a test tube.
batch: a batch is a small quantity of vaccine made in a single process, as part of a production lot.
lot:A quantity of virus (often vaccine virus) that has been grown from a viral seed pool, usually by one or two further passages in tissue culture.(e.g.a polio vaccine lot)
Inactivated polio vaccine(IPV): vaccine containing killed poliovirus
Contaminant: context: A polio vaccine lot could contain SIV contaminants.
cancer-causing agent: virologists where loath to cultivate vaccines in human cells for fear of spreading cancer-causing agents

geïnactiveerd poliovaccin etc

Kankerverwekkende/carcinogene stof (latter would be the more scientific term)

I am not sure about these, but perhaps they will help you to confirm other suggestions? Good luck.
