ekstrakto de efedro Explanation: Ma huang is the Chinese name of the Ephedra family of herbs (Ephedra sinica, Ephedra intermedia, Ephedra equisetina). The normal convention in such a case is to produce an Esperanto transliteration of the the Latin name, hence efedro. You can see a precedent for this in the URL cited below, which links to an article by a Chinese Esperantist on the relatonship between Latin and Esperanto, and which has efedro/Ephedra as one of the examples given.
