«préquelle»
Explanation:
I was confronted with this exact same term in one of my translations earlier this week. A prequel is the exact opposite of a sequel, i.e., a film that is released prior to another one. I did not find any official translation, so I played with the term «séquelle».

Vr Sequel rights

Explanation:

Sequel rights = The right to use the leading character or characters of a work participating in a substantially different story in an episodic series or serial type filmed TV or radio program.
(from NTC’s Mass Media Dictionary).
