Squirrelly or squirely

Explanation:
Is it squirrelly (as in squirrel= écureuil) or squirely (as in squire). I have a tendancy to think that it's "squirrelly" because the subject is "girls". Squirrelly means restless, unpredictable, nervous= "remuant, agité, nerveux".
I think "squirely" is spelled with one "l" and not two.
Just a guess.
