English term or phrase:marker
as in, "side marker (amber)" or "3 rear markers (red)" describing lights (I think?) for a boat trailer
...are these not in fact the little reflective 'patches' you find on trailers? I think the user of 'marker' for 'lights' would be unusual in normal EN, perhaps you can check elsewhere in your wider context to see if there are further clues? Note also that most trailers would have 2 (or 4) rear red lights, so 3 would probably be unusual.
