English to French translations [PRO]
Science - Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) / Scientific study on lizards
English term or phrase: carrying capacity
Translocation of a species within its range firstly presupposes that suitable natural habitat is available into which to move it, and secondly that for some reason the species is not already present in that habitat or is at a population density well below ///‘carrying capacity’/// (if the species is present at ‘carrying capacity’ adding further animals will only result in mortality).

I am looking for the official corresponding term in French.
At least one reference would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

capacité de charge

Explanation:
L'expression « capacité de charge » se réfère au nombre de personnes que la terre peut faire vivre de façon durable — en d'autre termes, indéfiniment, à niveau de vie constant, sans détruire la base de ressources naturelles. Il n'est pas possible de prédire cependant jusqu'où la population pourrait augmenter avant de détruire la planète.
