English term or phrase: Seniors Benefit
The government telegraphed its plans to scale back future retirement benefits when it attempted to revamp the Old Age Security and Guaranteed Income Supplmement program under a scheme known as the Seniors Benefit, which would have stiffed those who believed in self-reliance and maximized savings in their RRSPs.

Once again, Canadian government terminology.
Unofficial program that was axed...

Mille fois merci! Note à Patmat: Malheureusement, au Canada, sénior n'est pas employé dans le sens d'aîné.

Programme d'avantages pour séniors

Explanation:
Since this term does not exist in France, you have to find a rough equivalent. This explains it pretty well, the word séniors is now commonly used to refer to people past retirement age.

senior benefit

Explanation:
For me, the only way to translate"senior" is "le troisième âge".So, they talk of "les prestations du troisième âge".
This is the term we use in France for people which passed sixty.
Good luck.
