English term or phrase: paging
In the context of a power meter manual, what would "paging" mean (pagination, recherche??) The sentence is "300 baud rate is only intended for paging applications" and this is unfortunately the only occurence of this term in the manual. Thanks!

radiomessagerie
Explanation:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pager

On reflection, I'm not sure how this fits in the context of a power meter!
It certainly fits with baud rate which is why I originally gave high confidence.

I've had a look at an ION manual with this sentence in.

It's a footnote to the baud rates in the serial comms section. This tends to confirm we are talking about this type of paging.

The power meter has communication ports and can operate at various baud rates. The footnote simply states that 300 is intended only for paging applications.

Therefore, I think this confirms we are talking about radiomessagerie.
