English term or phrase: Now coming to the short cut down the tramble bank and over the sunken road
"en empruntant un raccourci..." I don't manage to understand the rest of the sentence. We know that the man has just gone out of a wood. Does he takes a path between the road and the bramble ?

French translation:not exactly...
Explanation:
Pour emprunter ce raccourci, il faut d'abord descendre le talus plein de ronces, puis traverser le chemin creux / la route creuse

(c'est exactement comme ça devant chez moi... !)

Now coming to... veut dire 'arrivé(e)(s) maintenant au raccourci...'

(selon les personnes et le temps du reste du contexte)

À moins, bien entendu, que le 'now...' ne porte pas le sens du mot « or »

  -> Thanks, kmlm!

neutral  katsy: agree with kmlm - 3rd sentence from same text!//sorry to confuse you Tony.I meant: I think the short cut IS the bramble bank + sunken road. Yr explanation gave me impression short cut was AFTER b.b. and sunken road. Yes to question about mods...! :)

  -> Thanks for explaining, now I see the ambiguity; yes, of course, that was indeed what I meant it to say! Maybe mods. would like to investigate again?
