English to French translations [PRO] Law: Contract(s)
English term or phrase:except to title
Any warranties or conditions made herein by XXX are exclusive, made in lieu of all other warranties or conditions, express or implied ( except to title)...
Cited in a contractual document about warranties. Any ideas on what except to title refers to, means, and what the French equivalent is?
The only implied warranty which is not excluded is to title (i.e. ownershiop). THis means that the goods are not stolen or subject to any kind of charge or lien. I think you can assume "clear title" is intended. Baleyte et al. give "titre incontestable".
