"sharp radii" refers to the radius (multiple) of curves, which is the same as the radius of whatever circle you can place into the bend so it leaves no gaps. A sharp radius is a tight bend, or a bend with a very small radius. The opposite would be a "loose" radius, which has a gentle curve to it.
