English to French translations [PRO] Marketing
English term or phrase:supported (see context)
ABCDE CityName was the main trade show supported, with XXX, YYY, and ZZZ (products)demonstrated.
Explanation: ABCDE CityName fut le salon principal à etre supporté....
Le salon pricipal supporté fut/était celui de....
Je préfère le mot "salon" pour commercial trade show. "Exposition" est parfois utilisé bien entendu.
"Supporter" when I was studying French was a verb which we were instructed to translate by "bear", "put up with" and so on, with perhaps the one exception of sports where it could be used in the context of supporting a sport. However, it is becoming increasingly in exactly the same way as in English, notably by the press.
