Chef de produit, porteur de projet, chef de projet Explanation: Hi gillian, I was one of those product champions for 6 years. My official title was Chef de produit marketing - développement. In english I was a project manager. I have subsequently (in my job search) been labeled 'développeur de produits' 'chef de produit développement' 'chef de projet', and I understand the most important ability is to be a 'porteur de projets'. |

Locomotive du projet Explanation: If your context is very formal, un-welcoming metaphores, I would stay with the term "porteur du projet". However, in French marketing, when a man/woman drives a project, pulling with him/her the human and material "wagons" we call him/her "la locomotive du projet" You will find the same metaphore for the key store (supermarket/ dept. store) in a shopping center, or even a specific product for a all line of products: We will talk of "produit-phare" for a top product standing alone, and of produit-locomotive" for one that is not only top but drives a all line of other products.
