English to French translations [PRO] Mechanics / Mech Engineering
English term or phrase:Hoist Hose
Hoist Hose Mount on Transmission
Transmission oil leaking
Reports have indicated that transmission fluid is leaking at the location where the brake cooling suction hose bracket is attached to the transmission housing.
Right, well that's already a great help, as it practically rules out that this might be a car hoist, a builder's hoist, a gantry crane hoist in a factory, or a hoist in a nautical context! So that narrows it down a bit.
Do you have any clue as to what kind of transmission this is (hydraulic?) — and is the 'transmission' providing the motive power for whatever is doing the hoisting? And do you have any idea if this 'hose' is conveying the (hydraulic?) fluid that is doing the transmission?
It looks to me as if in fact this hose is carrying the 'brake cooling' fluid (on the suction side), rather than hydraulic fluid for the actual transmission? But there seem to be 2 different hoses involved...
1° There are several different translations for 'hose', depending on exactly what type it is, and in what context it is being used.
2° There are equally many different possible translations for 'hoist', again, totally dependent on what it is used for and the form it takes.
It is for these reasons that it would be imprudent of me to make any simplistic, overly-literal suggestion, which would run the risk of being laughable or even downright wrong, until Asker has answered the sort of questions I've suggested above.
