1- en effet, c'est "salient features"
2- features implique plutôt les qualités, les caractéristiques, plutôt que la fonction ; par exemple, si un horrible instrument médical en métal avait un système auto-chauffant... on parlerait d'une de ses caractéristiques, un de ses attraits. Mais je n'utiliserais pas attraits, pour cause d'animisme.
