English term or phrase: points of articulation
The work was completed in 1911, with slight yet telling revisions made to the second movement in 1935 and a few points of articulation added for its publication ten years later. One melodic figure, presented in the D major Sonata’s opening Adagio and elsewhere in the first movement’s Andante, appears in modified form in the composer’s Cello Concerto of 1938, and again in the finale of the Cello Sonata Op 81.
