Assuming that this refers to the winter Christmas [etc] "holidays" then this is the translation which woud be understood in France.

We Europeans - of all backgrounds - understand "holidays" as something summery (possibly involving some travel) and don't make the connection to the US meaning.

Even McDonald's says "Christmas" in its UK advertising.
