Ma fête est le 16 septembre, et j'organise un party!!! Ca va être chouette!!!

Explanation:
I am not sure what the fuss is all about. We have helped many people translating much longer sentences than that in the past, and no one has objected. Maybe "professional translators" should accept to help people who need to have a small sentence translated without insisting on charging for it? All this girl wants is to send some invitations in French! Or am I missing something...? Maybe I am naive, but I am sending this translation anyway.

Another possibility:

"Je fête mon anniversaire le 16 septembre! Ca s'arrose et ça va être chouette!"

By the way, I agree with Dauphine. A little humanity won't kill you. Furthermore, no one obliges you to help anyone. So no need to chirp up with nasty comments or suggestions to hire a "professional" translator. Just ignore the request for help and get back to your "real work".

Deb

much ado about nothing

Explanation:
Hello Nathalie!

For simple translation like this one, you may use what is called "machine translation". It is freely available on the Web at the following address:
http://babel.altavista.com/translate.dyn

Be sure to type your query using a more "formal" wording (no short forms, proper capitalization usage, etc.).
For instance:
"My birthday is September 16 and I am having a Party! It is going to be sweet!!!"
yields:
"Mon anniversaire est septembre 16 et j'ai une partie! Elle va être douce!!!"

This is not quite all right, but fair enough, and even humorous.

So I wish a very "douce" party.

Cheers,

Vincent

C'est mon anniversaire le 16. septembre et je fais une fete. Cela va etre genial!

Explanation:
This is becoming a moot point on PROZ.

I understand the site to be about professional translators helping one another out with sticky terms. However, some fellow translators have sent in incredibly long lists of terms. Morally speaking, this could be said to amount to doing their vocab research for them. Morally speaking, perhaps such mountainous requests should be rejected. However, and leaving morals out of it, if one does not wish to assist on a particular question, then it is simple enough just not to answer it. That is with regard to fellow translators.

Turning to anyone who posts a question -some are obviously kids doing their homework, others are just wanting a quick bit of help with a word or two. Some however do really push their luck and ask for a whole song to be done. No way José!!! However, there again the solutions are quite simple. Do nothing. Answer, refusing and explaining why. Redirect a potential client to the job posting service. As for kids doing their homework, well, if they have the ingenuity to get the question up there, why not help?
