English to French translations [Non-PRO]
English term or phrase:Insert Key
...as part of the instructions on the back of a card key (for door locks). This is basically intended as a polite command.
"Veuillez insérer la carte-clé", "Veuillez glisser la carte-clé", "veuillez enfoncer la carte-clé",
Explanation: or "veuillez introduire la carte-clé"
Any of these expressions would be good.
The word "veuillez" (or "bien vouloir") is a polite way to ask someone to do something, or even *tell* someone to do something. You often see it on signs or instructions. (Veuillez fermer la porte, veuillez suivre les instructions suivantes, bien vouloir tirer la chaine, etc.) I would use it in this instance.
