English to French translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature
English term or phrase:her delicate face made *coarse* by a habit
This is talking about a wealthy widow joining a convent - neither "reche" or "grossier" seems to fit - all suggestions gratefully received.
The habit is the garment that nuns wear! (I did say it was set in a convent)
I don't think the whole sentence adds anything, but here it is anyway: " I can't picture her delicate face made coarse by a habit, not see her hoeing among the leeks and cabbages."
