English term or phrase: hold baggage screening (HBS) ; clear/unclear
Actually, it deals with airport equipment for inspecting the baggages, aiming at airport safety. I think the translation for "hold baggage" is "bagage de soute", but does someone know the the formal term for "HBS" ? What about clear/unclear ? (I understand the meaning but I still haven't found the correct translation)

context:
"screening process begins when the baggage enters the HBS equipement through crosing IR detector cells on the infeed conveyor belt"
"The overall security objective of an HBS equipment is that only non-dangerous baggage is loaded in the aircraft baggage compartments. The security objective is so related in the baggage and their status (clear/unclear)"

thanks a lot

French translation:"contrôle des bagages de soute"
Explanation:
There doesn't seem to be an equivalent acronym in French for HBS. They seem to use the words "contrôle des bagages de soute"

"Ainsi, le bagage de soute peut faire l'objet d'un contrôle par rayon X ou même d'une visite manuelle par un agent des douanes, un policier et même par un agent privé. " (http://www.avenirtransports.org/publication/actes/acte_Fevri...

Explanation:
Oops, sorry, I forgot to add this to my previous explanation on HBS. You were also asking for "clear/unclear". It took me a while, but I found the translation, which I printed above. You may like to compare the two sites below, where they talk about cleared baggage.

Hope this and my previous post will help you.
