Used for tacking insulation, building papers, box car liners, protective paddings, etc. Voici un autre texte que j'ai découvert sur google mais qui ne semble n'avoir rien en commun avec l'outillage plus haut: dans ce cas il s'agirait simplement d'une sorte de capote protectrice utilisée sur les armes à feu: “Hammer caps” [OB 4 February 1760: “The mens arms to be …completed in…hammer caps, which ought to be of black leather.” A leather hammer cap sounds much like the hammerstalls/frizzen covers used in modern re-enacting (hammer refers to what is now called the frizzen). However, it is likely that the “hammer cap” is a piece of leather tied around the musket protecting the entire lock assembly from moisture. douille d'ancrage adhésive(?) Explanation: Au moins je ne suis pas le seul à travailler le jour de Noël... Ça semble être une sorte de douille ou cheville d'ancrage contenant de la résine (voir la page de catalogue indiquée ci-bas). J'ai remarqué, au bas de la page, que le fabricant fourni des hammer caps galvalnisés, ce qui semble coller au texte. Aucune idée de la traduction figée ou si il y a une.
