English term or phrase: cross dock sort
Other terms I'm having difficulty with are:
- "sort waves"
- "curb sides"
- "Sort-Air"
- "Skid Area"
All of the above refer to a courier company's facilities (they are found in a warehouse which is a part of a hub, where the shipments are sorted).

Explanation:
This is just a shot in the dark, but it my steer you toward the right answer.

Sort waves: This may refer to mail that is picked up after someone has waved down the driver of the courrier company's vehicle? Or there may be some specified places where the truck stops only when there is a flag or other signal to tell that there are some packages or mail to be picked up? I am not familiar with courriers' operations, but I thought it might be one way they do the pick up. In that case, "sort waves" might be translated as "triage-signal"

curb sides: This is easier. It probably refers to mail or packages being picked up at the curb side (maybe from a mail box or by specified arrangement). You may want to translate it with "bord de route" or "bord de trottoir" or simply "route" or "trottoir".

sort-air: may refer to mail picked up from airplanes. In this case, you may want to translate: "triage-avion".

skid area: a skid road is a road for hauling logs along. Maybe by analogy, this skid area is an area through which bags of mail or packages are being hauled, moved around? I might translate it with "zone de remorque" (hauling area)

I hope this helps somehow.

Explanation:

I hope this helps.
