caniveau de soudure

In the field of welding ("soudure" in French), an undercutting is "caniveau de soudure". I found this term in my technical dictionary (English-French), and as this term is used for you in the context of repairs (for electrical devices), I think the field of welding is great.
Hope it helps,
Sandrine Lhote.

Used in case of corrosion.
Many other translations in Eurodicatom in different sectors. This would be for "properties and faults".
