English term or phrase: Three embedded single element RTDs per bearing one RTD in each shoe- total 6 Spherical seat tilt pad journal bearings with three embedded single element RTDS per bearing, one RTD in each of one shoe- total 6 I know I asked this question, but I am confused about the use of pad and shoe.

3 détecteurs de température à résistance par palier, soit un détecteur par patin

Explanation:
In this case, shoe and pad mean basically the same thing. The bearing is of the "tilting pad" type where the pads {or shoes} are allowed to tilt so that an oil "wedge" can be maintained to ensure lubrication. The term "pad" {patin}would normally apply to a flat component (e.g. in thrust bearings} whereas "shoe" (coussinet) would apply to a journal bearing. What you seem to have here is a "palier à coussinets oscillants"

see explanation below

Explanation:
"shoe" is most often a semi-circular segment, used by pair (hence the name): drum brake shoes for example
My understanding is that there are thrree bearings with each 2 pads or shoes
An other interpretation should be that each shoe is made of 3 pads, for ease of manufacturing or differences in material, and each pad contains a RTD, which leads to a total of 6 pads and RTDs
In both cases the wording "in each of one shoe" is unclear and may be misleading, the client or a picture should clarify that
