Regardant mes propres lunettes, il s'agit de l'embout à chaque extrémité de la pièce portant les verres, dessus il y a une ferrure enchâssée ("encased") qui reçoit un axe pour la chape ("clevis")qui est elle-même enchâssée dans la branche.
Sur mes lunettes, c'est un simple prolongement des "alvéoles à verres".
