injected full length polypropylene lasting board première de montage [ou semelle intermédiare ou intérieure] en polypropylène injecté Explanation: By its very nature a 'lasting board' is the full length of the shoe so it is redundant to say so (but certainly, it sounds more impressive). A slip lasted shoe retains the name "slip-lasting" in French or it is called "montage california ou mandarin." I haven't found a translation for the combi-lasted shoe yet. In any case, so far, I haven't found any example where the idea of full length for the board last was expressed in a French shoe advertisement so it is up to you whether you want to add it or not. Part of the difficulty in translating terms about shoe construction comes about from the different way these items are thought about in the two languages. While there are some items that have a direct correlation and emphasis, it isn't quite so here. In English we form the shoe on the last and we put a last in the shoe. In French, the shoe is formed on the last, but different layers are applied to the form. The closet to the last in a shoe is the "première de montage" but, as I understand it, the terms are not quite equal. In addition to "première de montage," I did find some web sites using the descriptive terms "semelle intermédiare" or "semelle intérieure" or just "première" or "montage." The last reference I have posted for you is a wonderful site, complete with diagrams of shoes, that does a great job of explaining shoe construction in French. ANATOMY OF A RUNNING SHOE SHAPE/LAST Pick up the shoe and look at the bottom of it. Notice how it curves. This is called the "last." There are three types of lasts: straight, slightly curved and curved. The straighter the shoe, the more support it has. The more curved the shoe, the more mobility it permits. CONSTRUCTION/LAST There are also three construction options: board lasting, slip lasting and combination lasting. Board lasting shoes have the greatest stability; slip lasting shoes provide more comfort and flexibility. Combination lasting is a compromise. Combination lasted shoes are slip lasted in the forefoot for flexibility and comfort, but have a board in the rearfoot for stability. To determine the type of construction, remove the sockliner. Underneath the sockliner will be: • ***A fiber board that runs from the heel to the forefoot (board lasting), *** • A board that extends half-way down the shoe with stitching the rest of the way (combination lasting) or • No board at all (slip lasting). http://www.communityrunning.org/injuries_shoes.html Première de montage "Semelle" intérieure sur laquelle vient s'assembler la tige et la trépointe par la couture de trépointe et sur laquelle repose le pied.
