Noch eine Option ... :-)

"spannend" ist sicher der Oberbegriff. Durch "packend" erzeugt man zudem die Konnotation "mitreißend" (dynamisch), was m.E. auch in dem Englischen "compelling" enthalten ist, während "fesselnd" (anderer Vorschlag) ja eher ein statisches Wort ist (Assoziation: Stocksteif auf das Buch starren, weil es z.B. so gruselig ist, oder so spannend daß man vergißt, sich zu bewegen).

Alle drei Vorschläge sind richtig; welcher der Beste ist, entscheidet der Kontext.
