Ma 2709 Explanation: this seems to be an item number in a catalogue of a museum, exhibition or auction house. Ma could stand for middle ages 27 a repetition of the hight 09 for 09th century. I found one link in the web (URL below): Ma - Vorgeschichte, Kunst der Vorzeit M - Vor- und Frühgeschichte, Archäologie MN - Kunst des Altertums. Then my 9th century would be wrong or BC? There are no standard codes, every museum, etc. creates their own. They should be explained in the catalogue. Not much help, I'm afraid. Wish I could see the artifact. Another wild guess: 09 for measurement across, but then, why repeat the hight? or Ma for Material Sorry! Reference: http://www.museenkoeln.de/kmb/perm/systematik.htm |
